Why Gamified Habits Work

Building a habit isn't usually hard because you don't know what to do. It's hard because you have to keep doing it tomorrow, and the day after that.

That's why I made Level Up. I wanted habits to feel like something you're actually making progress in, not just another checklist to keep up with. You earn XP, build streaks, and work toward rewards that you actually care about.

The idea is pretty simple: do the habit, make progress, keep going, repeat. The game mechanics are there to make consistency more satisfying and fun.

Why it works

Every small piece, doing something on purpose

Make habits feel rewarding

Every time you complete a habit, you get more than a checkmark. Earn Points, build your streak and watch your progress accumulate over time.

Turn consistency into a game loop

The system gives you a reason to come back: complete habits, earn XP and work toward rewards you chose yourself.

Build streaks without chasing perfection

Streaks make consistency visible, but missing a day doesn't erase the bigger picture. The point is to return and keep building.

Reward the habits that matter

Create your own reward shop and decide what your progress is worth. Gaming, a movie, takeout, or anything else can become a reward for showing up.

Who it's for

See yourself in this?

Anyone who wants to build habits but finds ordinary habit trackers too easy to ignore.

People who naturally respond to points, streaks, progress bars, quests, and rewards.

Anyone who keeps starting routines and wants a more engaging reason to stick with them.

People who want to make healthy, productive, or personal habits feel more satisfying to repeat.

Someone who likes turning everyday progress into something visible and motivating.

Made by Gerald

I'm Gerald, the student behind Cheese. I like turning things that normally feel like chores into systems that are actually fun to come back to. Level Up started with that idea: what if building the habits you care about gave you the same satisfying feeling as making progress in a game?

Ready to level up?

Pick a few habits. Start showing up. Let the progress take care of the rest.

What makes Cheese different

You only get one life. Build it well.

I don't think your money, school, habits, health, and goals are separate problems. They're all pieces of the same life.

That's why I build Cheese differently. Instead of giving you another app to manage, I make Notion systems that help you organize the things that matter, make progress on them and actually enjoy the process a little more.

Because you only get one life. It deserves a system built around it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

No. The RPG-inspired mechanics are simply a way to make habit progress more engaging. You complete your habits and tasks in Notion, and the system handles the XP and progress for you.
