Most chore systems ask, ‘who has to do this?’ Shared Edition asks a different question: what can we accomplish together?
Every family member's completed chore feeds the same balance, a parent's responsibility counts the same as a kid's chore. Nobody is racing anyone. The whole point is watching one number grow because everyone added to it.
The goal was never to rank the family against each other. It's to give everyday responsibilities a shared scoreboard the whole household can be proud of.
Everyone contributes. Everyone moves the family forward.
Traditional chore systems ask “who has to do this?” Shared Edition asks a different question: what can we accomplish together? A parent's completed responsibility and a kid's finished chore feed the exact same balance. There's no individual score to compare.
The goal isn't to win against each other.
It's to move forward together.
Why it works
Every small piece, doing something on purpose
Every contribution counts the same
Whoever completes a chore, the same shared balance grows. There's no individual score to compete over, just one family total everyone adds to.
Progress feels different when everyone contributes
The question isn't who did the most. It's what the family accomplished together this week.
Know what's within reach, together
The Reward Shop's Can Afford indicator shows the whole family how close they are to the next thing they're working toward.
The quest keeps going on its own
Recurring chores reset to their next due date automatically, nobody has to recreate the same chore every week.
Family Weekly Missions
Take on something bigger together.
Alongside day-to-day chores, the family takes on one shared mission for the week, a bigger objective everyone works toward together, on top of the usual chore board.
The Shared Quest
Chores are the quest. Rewards are the treasure.
The point isn't to make chores feel like a game for one person. It's to make the family's progress visible, one completed quest at a time.
Quest complete
Take out the garbage
A family member finishes the task and marks the quest complete.
Family progress
The balance grows
Those points join every other contribution in one shared family balance.
Treasure unlocked
Movie night
When the family reaches the reward, everyone gets to enjoy what they worked toward.
Quest complete → points earned → family balance grows → closer to a reward.
Inside the system
See how it works.
These are real screenshots taken straight from the template. I'll be polishing them up over time.
Who it's for
See yourself in this?
Families who want everyone's effort to visibly add up to something shared.
Households who want chores to feel cooperative, not like a sibling competition.
Families who've tried Starter Edition and want the shared-progress idea taken further, with missions and achievements.
Families who want one clear family goal to work toward, instead of five separate lists.
Worth Knowing
Probably not the right fit if you...

Made by Gerald
I wanted every family member's effort to count toward the same thing, not five separate lists, one shared goal the whole household is actually working toward together.
Quest together.
Build a family system where every contribution counts, every point moves you forward, and every reward gives you something to work toward.
Make it yours
A good system should fit your life, not the other way around.

What makes Cheese different
You only get one life. Build it well.
I don't think your money, school, habits, health, and goals are separate problems. They're all pieces of the same life.
That's why I build Cheese differently. Instead of giving you another app to manage, I make Notion systems that help you organize the things that matter, make progress on them and actually enjoy the process a little more.
Because you only get one life. It deserves a system built around it.
